EU4EU Results 2025: continued success in an evolving mobility landscape
The EU4EU network confirms its solidity and relevance in 2025 as well, achieving overall very positive results. In the framework of the latest call, closed in December, 466 students completed their applications and successfully passed the selection process with the Host Organizations on the EU4EU database, obtaining the relevant Letter of Acceptance for long term mobilities for traineeship. Thanks to the Erasmus+ budget available to the EU4EU network, 245 scholarships were awarded in the latest call under the EU4EU – European Universities for the European Union programme, while 221 candidates are currently on the waiting list.
EU4EU once again demonstrates its ability to respond effectively to the evolving needs and expectations of both students and companies. The results highlight the network’s adaptability to changing mobility patterns and its continued support for high-quality international experiences within a dynamic European context.
During the most recent meeting organised by Italian Erasmus+ Agency Indire in Bologna, which brought together around 300 participants, mainly from the International Relations Offices of Italian universities, discussions focused on a general decline in student mobility across Europe and a growing preference for shorter mobility periods. EuGen also participated in the event, as it does each year, in its role as coordinator of an EU4EU consortium comprising 13 public universities. In this context, EU4EU figures remain nonetheless high, standing out against the broader European trend.
What is EU4EU and why is it successful
EU4EU is a European university network comprising 47 universities in Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, internationally coordinated by EuGen. The network aims to promote high-quality international professional placement opportunities for students, through a database of 500 Host Organizations active across Europe. EU4EU’s success is built on strong cooperation among partner institutions—particularly the lead institutions of the national consortia—efficient coordination, and a student- and company-centred approach that values accessibility, quality of experience, academic value and administrative clarity.
Thanks to ongoing collaboration between EuGen, EU4EU university coordinators and host companies, combined with continuous process improvement, EU4EU has established itself as a reliable and attractive framework for international mobility, even in a context marked by structural changes and external challenges.
Strong national performances within the network
Among the participating countries, EU4EU Italy stands out for particularly strong results, with 150 scholarships awarded and high overall participation. France and Spain have also recorded very positive outcomes, confirming their strategic role within the network. Looking ahead, Portugal shows encouraging signs of growth, with prospects for improved performance and strengthened participation in upcoming calls.
Looking ahead: a new call in early 2026
Building on the positive results achieved in 2025 and while awaiting the usual October call, EuGen announces the publication of a new call between February and March, aimed at awarding additional scholarships for Spain and Portugal. This initiative represents a further strategic step in supporting traineeship mobility and consolidating the network’s impact.
Overall, the 2025 results reaffirm EU4EU’s commitment to offering valuable international professional opportunities and to sustaining high-quality European mobility through an Erasmus+ programme that continues to evolve and remain aligned with current needs.
